The National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) At PLASA Focus Leeds 2015
The National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) at PLASA Focus Leeds 2015
The National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) are once again heading to the Royal Armouries in Leeds for the extremely popular PLASA Focus: Leeds exhibition.  The FREE show (registration link below) is now in its seventh year and PLASA Focus: Leeds is firmly established as the leading event for audio, lighting, video, and stage technology in the North of England.

The event will showcase more than 130 sound and lighting brands and should attract more than 2,000 visitors on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th May 2015.  The exhibition at the Royal Armouries will continue the success story of previous events and build on the growing following for the annual show.  Our team of volunteers can be found on stand R-E11 and we look forward to seeing some of our members and DJs from across the country who converge on Leeds to visit the event.

The highly-acclaimed PLASA Professional Development Programme will run alongside the two-hall event, comprising of seminars, tutorials, and product demonstrations, all of which are free to attend and will be delivered by leading industry experts.  For more information on the seminars, please head to: www.plasafocus.com/leeds/seminars

NADJ Scholarship 2015 Programme Update
NADJ Scholarship Programme Update
The NADJ Scholar for 2015, Iggy Davis, is currently benefiting from parts of the programme he was recently awarded.  He's already made contact with Derek Pengelly and his DJ Mentor 365 service. Iggy was also fortunate to be a Full Delegate to the Pro Mobile Conference a short time ago.
It was at the conference that Iggy took a picture of his NADJ Scholarship certificate in the luxurious hotel room he was staying in (pictured above).  He was able to take on-board the guidance, knowledge, experience and networking opportunities that were handed to him on a plate. We've kept a close eye on Iggy and he's revelling in being the NADJ Scholar, as he outlines his feelings towards the conference he attended: "It was like throwing petrol on a fire! There was so much to take in; a relentless barrage of great ideas crammed into those two days.
"It took a long time afterwards to go over my notes. There were many practical and easy tips which will have an instant effect and others that will require practice to get right. Everyone I met was very friendly and open and made all of us feel included.
Sue Crean Appointed NADJ Merchandising Officer
Sue Crean Appointed NADJ Merchandising OfficerThe National Association of Disc Jockeys (NADJ) has just appointed Sue Crean to take over the Merchandising Officer.  Sue will now deal with all merchandise orders (NADJ branded T-shirts, polo shirts, fleece jackets, weatherproof jackets, shirts and blouses).
Sue takes up the role following retirement of Justin Banwell in earlier this month.  Justin felt that she would be the best person he knows to take over his job.  Justin said that had that he had to stand down because of work pressures and the need to spend some more quality time with his family.  Justin's business has gone from strength to strength since he joined the NADJ and soaked up the knowledge, information, experience and networking that was made available to him.
We know just how busy Justin is with his small business and the growing reputation he's gaining from the high level of service he offers his customers and there was, sadly, a point when the success of his business would eat into the available time for his role within the National Association of Disc Jockeys and also his family life.  Alan Marshall, Chairman of the NADJ, said: "It's a fine balancing act when you're volunteering you time to help run the Association and I know just how busy Justin is.  There comes a time when you need to concentrate on your family as they are the people who support you throughout your life."
NADJ AGM & Conference 2015: Premier Inn Sunderland City Centre
Premier Inn Sunderland City Centre Hotel Update
We've just received information from our man on the ground in Sunderland that there appears to be an issue with the Sunderland City Centre Premier Inn that we featured in the 'Hotel Information' section of the DJ Expo website.
It is unclear if that particular hotel will now be available on Sunday 26th April 2015 as it is a brand new hotel and the firm building it has collapsed. We are sure that Premier Inn will take every action possible to make sure that they can accommodate those who have already booked into the hotel.
Anyone who has booked a room at the Sunderland City Centre Premier Inn is advised to speak to the company direct for clarification. More news on this developing story can be found on the Sunderland Echo website: Contractors’ anxious wait after firm building new Sunderland hotel collapses
We have updated the www.djexpo.co.uk website accordingly.
Christina Lock: Rest In Peace
A short time ago, one of our avid supporters passed away. We paid tribute to Christina Lock who was a very regular attendee of our NADJ Wales branch meetings and was the biggest fan of the current branch Chairman, Peter Lock (her son): Christina Lock: Farewell To A 'Lovely Lady'
Christina also went to many of the DJ events throughout the country and that's how the current and past NADJ Committee members got to know her. In fact, many of us got to know her fondly as 'Peter's Mum.'
She was described many times by DJs throughout the country as 'a lovely lady' and her funeral service took place with more than 15 members of the National Association of Disc Jockeys attending and even more showing their respect on hearing the news of her passing.
Peter thanked everyone for their support: "I would like to thank everybody that attended my mum's funeral on Tuesday and also to say how much mum would have appreciated the turnout. It really touched the family with the number of DJs from the Welsh branch of the NADJ that showed their respect on the day. Thank you all very much."
